Tuesday through Thursday 5th and 6th graders will participate in Physical Education. We are now indoors working on our floor hockey unit.
Mondays and Fridays for 30 minutes per day 5th and 6th graders will be learning to touch type in the computer lab. Touch typing is a very important skill as it allows students to type without looking at the keys, and increases the speed and accuracy of their typing. This skill makes it much easier to write, e-mail, and communicate anytime a keyboard is used.
This is an elective class which satisfies a vocational credit requirement. Students usually take this class as Freshmen. They are learning how to navigate the school network and learn computer skills related to the Microsoft Office Applications. Emphasis is given to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel. Students also learn how to search the Internet Safely and efficiently. Since not all students have computers at home there is no homework for this class. If students miss class or need more time to complete assignments I can assist them before or after school. This is an elective class. First semester emphasis is given to the Annual. Students learn image editing skills that can be applied to print and electronic media. Applications students use include Macromedia Fireworks and Microsoft Publisher. The objective is to produce the 2007-2008 school yearbook. Some of the work on the Annual will be completed second semester. Second semester emphasis is given to web page design. Students use the image editing skills they learned first semester and apply them to the electronic media. The primary applications in use are Macromedia Fireworks and Dreamweaver. Students create their own web pages and edit and redesign pages for our school web site. Instruction Technology Resources
